The well-known skill system of RuneScape: Dragonwilds is one of its main draws, and Jagex has great ambitions to provide even more character development options. Dragonwilds retains many of the abilities and development mechanisms that contributed to the franchise's initial popularity, but it places a far stronger focus on survival, crafting, base building, and exploration than the classic RuneScape experience. Jagex has stated that there is still a ton of material in the works, even though the game is now completely available.
The way RuneScape: Dragonwilds reimagines well-known elements from the original MMORPG is one of its main selling points. Although its application has been modified to suit the open-world survival-crafting game type, skills like mining, woodcutting, and magic are still crucial. With a number of well-known features already planned for the upcoming year, Jagex's most recent RuneScape: Dragonwilds roadmap indicates that this process isn't slowing down anytime soon.
- Prayer
- Hunter
- Slayer
The addition of three new skills—Prayer, Hunter, and Slayer—to RuneScape: Dragonwilds has been formally announced by Jagex. The game's 2026–2027 roadmap, which details a number of significant enhancements spanning into the following year, included the additions. Hunter is slated for release in 2027 along with the first Blood Crystal Saga chapter, while Prayer will debut in December 2026 as part of the free RuneScape: Dragonwilds Luminance upgrade. Although Jagex has not yet given a precise release date or a thorough explanation of how it will function in Dragonwilds, Slayer is also confirmed as one of the future talents.
Although Jagex is developing adjustments to account for Dragonwilds, RuneScape's Prayer will be a combat and support skill with certain well-known elements. In order to ultimately unlock prayers that offer helpful passive effects, players will be able to bury bones, spread ashes, and construct altars at their bases. Improved fighting skills, health restoration, more effective resource collecting, and defense against specific sorts of harm are a few examples. At altars, prayer points can be replenished, and some adversaries can even deplete them.
