The first season of Fortnite Chapter 4 has been a great smash with battle royale enthusiasts thanks to the abundance of entertaining and thrilling new vehicles, tools, and weapons that have been added. But Epic isn't finished yet. The first hotfix of the year has brought along a small surprise to keep things interesting—the brand-new Guardian Shield item—even if a major update won't arrive for another week or two. This defensive item is difficult to come across, but if you do, your squad will benefit greatly from having it. Here are the location and usage details for the Guardian Shield.
Where to find the Guardian Shield and how it works
The only place to find the Guardian Shield is in Oathbound Chests. Only the portions of the map with yellow grass and vibrant trees that suggest fall are home to these big, white chests. Breakwater Bay and The Citadel in the northwest of the map are two locations where Oathbound Chests may be found very easily.

The Guardian Shield acts quite like Reinhardt's shield in Overwatch--with a twist. |
The Guardian Shield is a defensive tool that may be used as a mobile barrier or dropped on the ground to serve that purpose. You may shift the shield as necessary while moving and defending your area by pressing and holding the fire button while it is mounted. To allow you time to heal up or reposition as needed, you can throw it down on the ground at any feasible spot in the same manner that you would throw any other item.
The Guardian Shield will undoubtedly be a helpful protective tool, but it won't shield you from harm forever. It will soon start to become purple, at which point you should start planning your next move because it is about to vanish and leaving you exposed. In other words, you can't bunker down with it forever, therefore you'll need to have a backup plan ready for when its power runs out.
