In 2022, Epic Games offered four Creative concert experiences in Fortnite, and now we have our first in 2023. The performer will be Australian rapper/singer The Kid Laroi, and his concert will include a slew of new cosmetics, including two new skins, two emotes, and a slew of other new cosmetics, some of which will be free.
The Kid Laroi cosmetics are supported by two creative experiences: the Wild Dreams island with a "immersive aural experience" and the Wild Dreams Afterparty island. These islands will be open for three months, until April 27th. Furthermore, in the Kid Laroi Cup on Tuesday, January 24, you may obtain some of the Kid Laroi cosmetics for free.
But what about The Kid Laroi makes him deserving of all this Fortnite adoration? The Kid Laroi, whose real name is Charlton Howard, was born in Sydney and gets his stage name from the Gamilaraay, also known as the Kamillaroi, an Australian Aboriginal group from which he is descended. His grandfather was one of the Stolen Children of Australia, who were taken from their Aboriginal families by the Australian government a century ago. Growing up in difficult circumstances, he didn't have an easy upbringing, and in 2015, his uncle, who served as a father figure in place of his own father, who was sometimes absent, was killed.
When he was barely 14 years old, Howard secured a development agreement with Sony Music Australia in 2017. The Kid Laroi then met rapper Juice WRLD in 2018 while the latter was on tour in Australia, and after that, The Kid Laroi moved to the US to live with Juice WRLD and learn as much as he could about the music industry. The Kid Laroi included Juice WRLD on "Go," the first single from his debut album the following year, but sadly that mentoring was cut short as he passed away in late 2019.
Since that time, everything has gone upward for The Kid Laroi. In the last three years, he has worked with a tonne of well-known musicians;
Stay with Justin Bieber was perhaps his biggest. However, there are several collaborations on that list. Along with Miley Cyrus, Lil Tecca, Blackbear, Corbin, and Lil Mosey, he has formed a group. Kid Laroi has gone everywhere, and that is really only the top of the iceberg.
Is he deserving of a set of Fortnite Icon skins after all that? If not, then perhaps his popularity on TikTok was what drove him over the edge. With a short song about TikTok star Addison Rae a few years ago, he shot to fame on the social video site, and because to his three million fans as well as the platform's ubiquity of his music, he swiftly established himself as a TikTok institution.
With this enormous selection of cosmetics and emotes, The Kid Laroi now intends to completely dominate Fortnite battle royale and its related metaverse. Additionally, given his rapid ascent over the previous three to four years, you shouldn't bet against him.
